May 2020

This month is still in quarantine but we have felt a little more relaxed about it! We are just feeling done with it all...We have been hanging out with the Claytons and went down to Meadow to see my parents. We just need to get out of the house, makes us all feel better being outdoors or seeing loved ones! Still doing church at home and going on little hikes afterwards.

5.1.20  Don't worry I didn't rob anyone! haha I haven't been to the store in a LONG time! I finally had to go to Costco to get some pjs for the kids but they were requiring masks in all public places! This is the first and last time that I have worn the mask...I felt like I was suffocating!

5.3.20  Chris has been working on this rocket launcher for weeks and finally finished it! He was super excited to show the kids! The kids loved counting down from 10. On one of the countdowns a family was walking on the back path and stopped to watch...that just happened to be one of the times that it barely popped off. How embarrassing! haha they laughed and gave us a little clap! We have loved taking it to the park and launching it up about 200 feet into the air!

This is what happens when you ask an older sister to play with her younger brother for a little bit.

5.4.20  May the 4th be with you!  We had a work party/ going away party for Kassidy! Bridger made some really yummy brisket to go with our yummy feast! So grateful for these wonderful people!

5.5.20  Cinco De Mayo. I made some yummy peppers wrapped in bacon and smothered in cheese.

Still working hard on my waterfall quarantine project! (first picture at the beginning of the month and the next was at the end of the month). I have been also working hard on putting weed barrier everywhere needed around the house! I have been outside working almost every day! I love being outside!

This whole month Catherine has been coming in bed with me in the mornings when Caden gets up. He likes to wake up around 6:30-7 am and she likes to sleep in like me and McKay. We usually sleep in until about 8am! I have enjoyed the morning snuggles!

5.8.20   Before going down to Meadow we wanted to go visit grandma Elaine's grave for Mother's day and bring her some flowers. We decided to get some Bahama Bucks shaved iced while sitting by her grave! McKay sat on her headstone and Caden said "look mom, it is like he is sitting on Grandma's lap!" I am sure that grandma was there with us and was happy to have McKay sitting on her lap again!

5.8-10.20  We went down to Meadow for the weekend to celebrate mothers day with Grandma Freeman. We got there Friday night and brought pizza with us to share with Grandma and Grandpa Freeman. One of the best perks of going to their house is their wonderful kid friendly back yard! The kids love it and have so much freedom to play...they got swings, trampoline, sandbox, tennis court to ride bikes, goats, chickens, dog, cat, and just so much area to run around and play! Our main adventure we did on Saturday. We took the kids out to The Lace Curtains! The kids loved exploring and climbing on all the rocks. We brought lunch out there with us. On our way home we stopped at the Ice caves that are located in the middle of the lava beds. So cool that there is ice down in the hole even when temperatures get up to 100 degrees outside! It was fun to show the kids things that I have grown up seeing and to teach them about volcanoes. We finished the day by taking the kids up the canyon in the side by side and driving it to the gas station to get an ice cream treat! Sunday (Mother's day) was such a special day. We all got ready for our at home church. My dad (grandpa Freeman) gave a wonderful lesson on being happy for what others have and not coveting thy neighbor's things, but instead learning to share and be happy. He shared a personal story from when he was a boy and his friend got a new bike. The spirit was very strong, especially when we all got to bare our testimonies and then have the sacrament. For our mothers day meal, Chris grilled us some really yummy steak to go along with the funeral potatoes my mom made. After lunch we cleaned and packed up to go home. It was a much needed time to go down to Meadow to see my parents. We all needed to get out of our home and Meadow was the perfect escape. I am so grateful for my parents and all that they do for us!

So grateful that I got to spend Mother’s Day with the best mom ever!! Love you mom! Thanks for all you do and your wonderful example of being a mom! Thanks Dad for the wonderful Sunday lesson!

Made it back home on Sunday! It always feels good to get home after a trip!

My family just love to make funny faces and take selfies! Caden took these pictures!

5.13.20   Mommy/ Catherine date! We went to Cafe Rio and picked up out Sweet Pork Salad and took it to the lake to to eat! After we finished eating we went to the Glass House to do a little photoshoot of Catherine. She felt so pretty! I let her pick out her own outfit and how she wanted her hair done! We both had a lot of fun with it. After our photoshoot we went to our drive in movie to watch Trolls World Tour. Until it started we played Match and Candy Land. We brought lots of treats, popcorn, and drinks! It was so fun to snuggle up with my girl/ best friend and stay up late! It was a much needed outing for the both of us! I just love this girl so much!!

For one of Caden's school assignment he had to write about one of his favorite people...He wrote about Sam!

Picked these while out on on my 3 mile run! I love wild flowers!

Caden really wants to buy a kid sized four wheeler that cost around $800 used. So we told him if he earns at least $200 we would help with the rest! He has been determined to earn that money and has been outside working in the garage prepping and working on his pinecone business! He has helped make a website and facebook page for it! I have even showed him how to edit pictures and he edited a bunch of pinecones all by himself!

5.24.20   Went on a hike to Lower Bell Canyon Reservoir! That is probably my favorite hike that we have gone on so far! It was so pretty up there! We got to the lake and had lunch and after eating lunch we were going to hike up to the upper falls. However our adventure on the other side of the lake took a muddy turn! It felt like we were in the jungle! Chris carried us across the stream and after crossing the stream we had to maneuver our way through the mud jungle! There was a family in front of us that their 11 year old got covered from head to toe in mud...we were lucky to get out of there with just muddy shoes! haha *In the last two pictures they are pointing to where our house is!

5.25.20  We bought our very first truck!! We have really been wanting one and now was the perfect time with it being Memorial day weekend and lots of sales going on with this pandemic! We love it! It is so big and spacious! It has way more room than my van does! Congrats Chris, you deserve it!

5.29.20  Last day of school! Technically they had one more week but it was just make up classes! So glad to be done with home school for now! We celebrated by having a dutch oven dinner and strawberry short cake! Caden did so well with reading every morning! He read one magic tree house book each morning! He finished all 29 Books! Virtually he got awarded wonderful writer and got the falcon award! So proud of this smart hard working boy! Catherine also graduated from preschool! Can't believe she will be going to kindergarten in the fall! She also has worked hard doing upstart computer school every day! When we took her to the school to see her teachers she was super shy. She refused to wear the cap and gown, I was lucky to get the pictures that I got. She also did not want to go to the little graduation ceremony! Silly girl...guess it has been a little too long of not seeing them (or anyone for that matter).

We finally ventured to a park since they have finally opened them back up to the public and because they rebuilt this one by the fire station! Too bad it was super hot!

Catherine wrote me this cute little note! "I love you mom"

The kids surprised us with their version of the Cherry Pit Spitting Contest! haha They had cherries in the bowl with a spoon and the line for spitting at too!

5.31.20   We were excited to take our new truck on a drive and wanted to drive down to provo to go on a little hike up to Stewart Falls. Unfortunately there were a crazy amount of people and we couldn't find any parking. So instead we decided to drive the Alpine loop. Part of the way we pulled over and had a little picnic in the back of the truck and of course looked for pine cones! It was so pretty up there! We will have to attempt the waterfall again sometime just in the morning next time.
