Caden: 8 months old
- His personality is showing more and more and he is learning a lot.
- He is now army crawling. He loves to move around. He especially likes to be in the same room as me. The other day I was putting laundry away and he was following me to each room that I went to. I felt bad because by the time he would get there (and he was working so hard to get there) I would be ready to go to the next room.
- He just learned to clap his hands! I love it, it is so cute to see him get excited and clap. He likes it when we sing "Patta Cake". I kind of think that he thinks that clapping means "more", because he keeps clapping his hands when he is ready for more food. haha
- He also has learned how to click his tongue. It was the funniest things to see him discover that. He first did it when we let him lick a succor that Grandma and Grandpa Huntington sent to him for valentines day. Must have been kind of sour because he started clicking his tongue. Now he loves to do it when we do it to him.
- He loves to pull himself up to stand. Still wobbly once up but he loves it.
- He loves to walk around with us holding his hands.
- He just loves to move! Especially when I am changing him! ugh! He knows the meaning "No", because he listens when I say "no" at things he isn't supposed to touch. But when I say "no" when he rolls while changing him he starts to laugh and thinks its a game to try and get away. Silly boy. haha It is hard not to laugh with him but I also want him to know that I am serious.
- He loves when Dad comes home. He will usually be eating and once he hears the door unlock he immediately stops eating and starts looking around. Once he spots dad, he gives him a big smile. It is funny how he can be grumpy and then just like that be happy and excited.
- He loves strings of all kinds....the sting on the yoyo, my hoodie string, my sweat pant tie string, shoe laces, and all cords (that one I have to keep an eye on). All of which go directly into his mouth. I will be so happy when things stop going in his mouth so much.
- He loves puffs and graham crackers, which makes it really nice. I will give it to him to distract him while I quickly work on dinner.
- He has been getting in to the stranger danger mood. for the past couple of months. He is really good with people he knows and once he warms up to strangers. But sadly there has been a few times that my neighbor, who is a sweet old lady, has said "hi" and he will do the most sad face ever and starts whimpering. melts my heart. He has been mommy boy lately. He always wants me to hold him. I love it, but feel bad when dads holding him and he reaches for me. He is also getting a bit heavy for me to carry all the time....he is probably about 28 lbs. now. However, I like it when people come or when we are around other people because then he just sits so still in my lap...it is relaxing for me. haha Most of the time he likes other people though. It probably doesn't help that he doesn't see much of other people with us being cooped up at home all day.
- He loves to play with Sam Clayton. At least I think he does. He usually just watches Sam cruise around. (Sam is about 6 months older than Caden). But as of lately he has been trying to go after a toy before sam gets it. They are cute to watch play together!
- As of lately he has had a bunch of red dry spots all over his body, mostly on his tummy. I took him to see a nurse and she says that he has a little bit of eczema. So we were told to just put lots of lotion on. Luckily it looks like it is starting to clear up.
- As far as napping and sleep goes he is doing really well. Still sleeps through the night! On occasion he will wake up early around 5 or 6 and will usually go back to sleep. I was frustrated at first until I realized that I need to be grateful that he even sleeps that long. However, most of the time he wont wake up until around 7. I like that! As of lately he has been taking 3 one hour naps: at 9, 12, and 3. But every now and then he will take two 2- 21/2 hour naps. Again I definitely can not complain. He has always been a good sleeper. He has days that aren't as good but I am going to focus on the positive. He is usually pretty happy all day too, especially after a long nap. He is a really easy baby to keep content and happy.
- My favorite thing to do with him that he loves and it gets my bed made: I set him on my bed and I start on one side getting it made and then I run to the other side get it made...I do that a couple of times(even though the bed doesn't need it) but he will just laugh and laugh. Then I duck down where he can't see me and then pop up and say "Boo" and he will laugh some more. It is a great way to start our day. We will then go in to the bathroom, he watches me brush my teeth and then I will brush his. I think he likes it. :)
- He has also been saying "da da da" and "ma ma ma" and "ba ba ba". Chris and I have been competing with the ma and da. But we think he says "da da da" when he gets exctited and "ma ma ma" when he is sad. haha He loves the book "Moo Baa LaLaLa", He will smile everytime!
- He loves mirrors! He smiles and starts kicking when he sees himself. He also loves the sliding glass door. He will hit at it and usually be entertained by that for a bit. Most of the time he is just really content playing with his toys...but I have to be right there too! If I leave he gets upset and wants to be where I am going. So I usually have my computer, phone, kindle, or book but then he has to be playing with what I am holding. He loves being in the kitchen with me and getting in to the pots and pans.
- He is my little buddy and I love it when he will cuddle with me. I especially love it when I will look and him and smile and he will give me the cutest smile in return! He is definitely a blessing and a joy in my life!
