Huntington Reunion 2022

Alamosa and Sandford July 13th-16th

July 13th, Wednesday: Day 1
We left our house on Tuesday and picked Chris up from work and went and got dinner from Cafe Rio. We ate it in the car and drove to Derics house to split up the drive. It was a perfect half way place to stop, but still a 5 hour drive! On Wednesday, Deric made us a yummy breakfast and then we drove the 5 hours to the house we were going to be staying at for the reunion.  After we got settled and everyone else arrived we then went to the Sand dunes! Luckily there was a rainstorm the night before that caused there to be runoff water for the kids to play in...otherwise it would have been way too hot and dry! The kids had so much fun in the water and McKay and Jackson was covered! The attempt to sand board down the dunes was a epic fail...We later found out that you are supposed to wax the bottom of the boards to get them to go down easily! After playing there we drove back to the houses to clean up and on our way back we stopped at the gift shop to get our National Park water bottle sticker and magnet! After cleaning up we then made our way to a alligator park. The kids were so happy they got to hold a little baby alligator! It was fun but reminded me of the Tiger King haha only for Alligators! The last thing we did for the day was go to the swimming pool! Their swimming pools are naturally heated and boy were they hot! Almost too hot for Jackson...Definitely could not stay in it too long without getting over heated but I prefer swimming in hot pools verses cold! The kids had a lot of fun!! We had brought our own dinners to eat there at the pool and from there we went back to the houses to get kids to bed!

July 14th, Thursday: Day 2
In the morning Kerry made everyone a yummy pancake breakfast! We then took our time getting ready for the day and then went on a hike to a waterfall! The original plan was to enjoy the Sanford 24th celebrations but got the days mixed up and missed it yesterday! But we still ended up having a great day!. The kids really enjoyed the little hike and playing in the water. They especially enjoyed throwing rocks into the holding dam. That evening we made our way to Alamosa to have a potluck dinner with Chris's Aunts and Uncles and cousins. Since we had missed all of the fun foot races and such we held our own little races for the kids! Pretty sure my kids won in all of their age groups! haha. They were so cute in making it fun for the kids, they gave the winners a gaterade and some gum! It was fun meeting family that I haven't met before! Kids had a great time even though Caden got destroyed by mosquitos!

July 15th, Friday: Day 3
We got up super early that morning to have our whole family run in the Manassa 5k! This was Caden's first 5k and it was a bit of a struggle but I am so proud of him for doing it and actually fishing by running at the end! Both Catherine and surprisingly I placed in our age groups! Catherine did so well, she ran the whole thing without stopping! After getting the medals from the race we then got our spots for the parade! It was super hot and the kids were pretty disappointed by the amount of candy that was thrown to them, haha which I was ok with however! Then we were able to find a shady spot for eating burgers and enjoying the carnival! We let each kid go on two rides! They thoroughly enjoyed them! Once we had our fill of carnival we then met up in Sanford at the park to have ice cream and celebrate Kaitlin's birthday! It was nice to not have so many people around and relax at the park. Kathy was able to take up to her house that she grew up in and share some memories. We then took off from there to go back to Deric's house to sleep for the night and then left the next morning to go home! We got home Saturday afternoon and it felt so nice to still have time to clean up and unpack before the day was over! Good trip but a bit too much driving for me! Everything that we went to while there was about 30 min to an hour drive one way...Felt like we didn't really get to hang out all together as much as I would have liked but still a fun reunion to see where Kathy grew up!

July 2022

A lot happened in July! We had Freeman Reunion, Chris's birthday, Girls trip with Kaitlin, Huntington Reunion, 24th of July and a girls trip with Jenell! I would have liked to spread out my girls trip but this was the only time it worked for Jenell!

July 1st-5th: Freeman Reunion

July 7th: Chris's Birthday!! Also Catherine lost her tooth on that day! We just kept his birthday simple and had his favorite Strawberry Short Cake! Just played games as a family and enjoyed family time...that is all he wanted for his birthday! Easy man to please!

July 8th-10th: Kaitlin invited me to join her birthday girls trip! They got an airbnb up Ogden Canyon. Once we all got there we went into town and got some ice cream. The next day we slept in, went on a hike, then went out to a Mexican restaurant for dinner and came back for games and activities! The last day was sleeping in and then cleaning up to check out! I had fun on this trip but it did feel a little akward at times like I wasn't originally supposed to be there. But it was a nice little get away. While I was gone Chris was feeling a little sick but still managed to take the kids to the splash pad and do a fun movie night with them!

July 11-17th: Huntington Reunion: Separate Post

July 18th: Chris started his new job at Rep Labs! He will be working on a lot of new products! It is fun to see all the new things with this company and where this company will take us! Already off to a great start and feels refreshing and less stressful change!

July 20th: Kids got a hold of my phone and took pictures and videos! Caden is getting into making video for his Nothing But Net YouTube channel! He is a natural haha! That night Caden and Catherine went and slept over at the Clayton's new house!

July 23rd-25th: Before we left to go pick up Chris from work to go down to Meadow we walked over to the Anderson's house to have some shaved ice. Then we packed up and drove down to Meadow. Once we got in Meadow Chris dropped me off with Marla and Emma to do a Bridal shoot at the White Mountain Sand Dunes. All of her pictures turned out so so good! I got back to my parents house around 9pm and then Nicole and Rylar showed up around 10pm. We had invited them to come down and enjoy the 24th celebrations with us! We got up early and the 24th to all go run the Kanosh 5k. Catherine took first in her age group and again did the whole race without stopping. Caden actually did much better and took 2nd out of his age group! So much fun! We all go some awesome shirts! After the race we went back to my parents house to shower and have a yummy breakfast. At 10am we went back to Kanosh for the parade and hung out there until lunch at noon. While waiting for lunch we drove out to Jenell's house to play with the puppies and let the kids cool off in the little pool. After lunch we went back to my parents house to get Jackson and Mazi down for naps while we went to Meadow park to let kids play on the inflatable water slides. We had dinner at the Meadow park and stayed for races and games. Pretty sure all of my kids took first place again and Chris and Rylar totally won the corn hole tournament! We then went and got kids down for bed at my parents house and then Chris and I took Rylar and Nicole to the Kanosh live band and dance! We all had so much fun! I just love the 24th celebrations! After the dance they took off to head home but we stayed the night to go to church and have lunch with my parents! Such a fun weekend!

July 27th: We have had a couple wonderful successes! McKay has made it a whole week of being night time potty trained! Such a great feeling to finally be able to say that McKay is FULLY potty trained! We have definitely come a long way! Also Jackson in starting to walk!!! YAY! Must be the matching pjs! haha

July 28th: Dentist time! Me, Caden, and Catherine got our teeth checked and cleaned! They did awesome! We then went to Costco and spent way to much! We love Costco! Caden also got a hair cut today! This is the longest he has ever let it get! But I love his hair long and curly!

July 29th-30th: Sister Girls Trip with Jenell! I met up with Jenell at her hotel and she bought us some yummy berry rolls! We then went and got an amazing massage! It was Jenell's first time ever getting a massage and I think I it totally converted her! It felt so good, exactly what I needed! Afterwards we went out to eat. We went and got some sushi! YUM! We went back to the hotel where Mary and her sisters were staying. We went and soaked in the hot tub and our bodies just felt so relaxed! We then drove up Provo Canyon to find where we would be launching our Kayaks and figure out where we would spend the night! We found a road right by the launch that we thought was a dead end so we just pulled off the side of the road and camped in the back of the truck! Our total time there we probably had about 6 vehicles drive past to get into this private property gate that we thought nobody would be going into! haha We stayed up late talking and then watching a movie that I had downloaded. The next morning we slowly got up, had some oatmeal, cleaned up and were ready to get in the water by 10am. At first we were so nervous to float down the Provo river because it looked like it was going so fast. But once we got in and going it was so much fun! We ended up meeting a couple on our way down that wanted to go down again and we decided to do it with them and make it possible for us to carpool up! Worked out perfectly! We were definitely ready to be done by the end of the second time down! I really want to do this again with Caden and Catherine! I think they would love it! Jenell and I want to do this every year together! It was a perfect girls trip that didn't cost us hardly any money! I just love Jenell and so glad that her and I are super close!
