March 2020

March is the literal term of "March Madness"! A lot of dates and information throughout this month! This will be a month that I Will NEVER Forget!

Catherine was able to go to preschool a couple times this month. Here are her March preschool pics.

3.4.20   Megan had asked if she could practice on our kids for her dental school. So I took them in, surprisingly we bumped into Ben with Chick-fil-A before going into the building and he gave us some free food! Ended up really coming in handy. I forgot to mention that my friend Jamilyn Bell was so kind to watch McKay so I could take the kids down to Orem for this. Caden was a champ and let Megan look at his teeth! Took them about an hour too and sadly they wouldn't let any family be in the room. I was hoping Catherine could be in there to see exactly what the process would be so she wouldn't be afraid! When it was Catherine's turn she didn't wan't anything to do with it! Poor Megan gave it her absolute all trying to convince her. She was using bribery and everything but after about an hour of trying we just had to give up with her. Catherine just seemed really tired.

3.5-9.20   Thursday morning Catherine got really sick!! No wonder she wasn't seeming herself yesterday with Megan! All that Catherine wanted to do was sleep. She wasn't really hungry either, just tired. It was very weird, she didn't have chills or runny nose, but she did have a fever and a little dry cough! I tried to keep her in her bed and isolate her from McKay and Caden. Unfortunately Deric and Alana were going to come stay with us that night and the next day but after informing them that Catherine had fevers and wasn't feeling well, they decided to pass. Which we were kind of relieved about because we were getting a little tired of hosting. Later that day I decided I better take Catherine in just because she had a fever and it seemed like it was hard for her to breathe a little, which made me concerned. The nurse said to bring her in just to make sure it wasn't strep. That Dr. appointment was pointless. We were stuck in the office for over an hour and the Dr. didn't give us anything. Luckily she didn't have strep....who knows, maybe she had this corona virus that is starting to go around that has everyone on high alert. That night Catherine coughed in my face and right then and there I knew I was going to get what she had too. Sure enough that night it literally hit me "Bam" I was sick! Such a weird sickness....Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I just felt like sleeping the whole time. We moved Catherine into my bed with me and tried to isolate ourselves into my room. We both just slept a lot. Thank goodness the rest of our family didn't get it but Chris's anxiety was going through the roof! He told me later, "I seriously thought you were dying with how much you were sleeping". I feel for him and what he was going through! I felt horrible about missing Tia's bridal shower on the 7th. I really wanted to go because lots of family was going to be there that I haven't seen in a really long time, but there was no way I was going to be able to go.
While being sick I decided to try going outside for a minute to get some fresh air! So glad I did because I was thinking how I wish we had spring flowers coming up and then remember that I did plant some but we covered them up with weed barrier. They were there and I was able to cut them free! They survived! It just brought be a little bit of happiness and hope in the midst of this sickness!

3.11.20   Brit and her little family were going to come on the 10th but I pushed that back a little so that I could have one more day to clean and recover a little more. She arrived late Wednesday night and we stayed up late talking catching up on everything.
3.12.20   Tia's wedding and reception were at 1. Luckily Christine was willing to watch my kids so that Chris could still go to work and I could attend the wedding and lunch afterwards! I really needed that outing with my family for lunch! Ever since my trip to California with my sisters got cancelled I have been really needing family time, and then not being able to go to the bridal shower when they would all be there....So glad I got a little time with them at lunch, even though it was like a ghost town! I felt bad for Tia, she must have been under a great deal of stress with the possibility of her parent might not being able to make it to the wedding (They made it), and everyone talking about the corona virus almost the whole time at the reception! Crazy time, but I am so glad that they were able to get sealed!

3.12-13.20 Right before we got to the reception this was all announced! Everything just became really REAL! No gatherings of 100 people or more (no church worship/functions), NBA suspended as a result of Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell testing positive for coronavirus (no march madness...we have the real thing), empty grocery store shelves (toilet paper, bottled water and flour almost impossible to find), and the announcement of a 2 week “soft closure” from school. The following week, we came up with a schedule for home school. The reality was setting in that life was really going to be different for a while. History in the making...

3.12.20 As soon as the reception was over Chris took off with Matt to go fishing for one night! Before leaving he had to go to the store to get stuff for their fishing trip. Luckily he did because then he was able to get food for our family too before there was nothing left on the shelves. As it was he had to wait about an hour in the check out line! Crazy! This is definitely a much needed escape for Chris Especially with EVERYTHing that Is going on and that Has happened in that past month or so. Unfortunately my anxiety and fear really hit me that night with all that is going on with this virus, I felt very much Alone! But turning to the Lord reminded me that I am not and never will be alone.

3.16.20  Just trying to figure out this whole "Home School" thing. I think we are starting to get the hang of it! Caden's school is all on google classroom. So far he really likes doing it all on the computer! Catherine is basically just doing her normal computer school with Waterford Upstart. I have been trying to put my own twist on their homeschool by teaching them how to draw pictures!

3.17.20  Happy St. Patricks Day! I definitely dropped the ball this time! I have just been feeling a little overwhelmed with homeschool and not being able to just go to the store when needed (don't feel like our food storage is quite to where it should be yet). But I did my best to make up for the lack of creativity. we had Green Hulk Soup, green Honey Dew, and Green Cookies! We luckily just purchased a bike stroller before all this craziness and we decided to take it to the lake to ride around for the first time! I have a feeling this will become a life safer!

3.18.20  E A R T H Q U A K E ! As if a pandemic alone wasn’t enough, there had to be a 5.7 magnitude quake too! We were literally shaken out of bed just after 7 am. Talk about terrifying. Chris and I at first didn't know what was happening...It sounded like a train was coming through our house! I popped out of bed and looked out the window to see if it was thunder and then I realized that the whole house was shaking...That's when I realized it was an Earthquake! We knew the kids would be up already and probably terrified. Sure enough they came running down the hallway freaking out not knowing wether or not they should be crying. We held them and reassured them it was all ok. And just like that it was done. We didn't even have enough time to grab McKay or even think about getting under a table before the shaking was done. Natural disasters like this for some reason freak me out way bad, way more than what the pandemic has. I just wanted to curl up in my bed and throw the covers back over my head. Luckily McKay slept through the whole thing. Chris still had to go into work so he got ready and left. I don't think it was until after he left that the fear really set it. So the kids and I flipped on the news to learn what was going on. We were reassured that that one was going to be the biggest one we would get.  Feeling better about it all, I encouraged us to kneel down and say a prayer. We then had a tender talk about how the only thing that mattered in that moment of crisis was family. We just wanted to be together and know everyone was safe. What a blessing that we were all home when it happened. We also talked about how we could respond better physically (like getting under a table) since none of us did that the first time.  We have since had 212 aftershocks! Luckily we didn't feel any of them. Even around lunch time we had our biggest aftershock (4.6). So glad we didn't feel it! Chris still checked the gas line and around the house before going to work, and I filled up all of our water jugs with water just incase. This has been a good reminder to be prepared in any emergency...we definitely need to do better.  No damage came to us or our house...We were just literally a little shaken! Poor Magna however, had some significant damage and Angel Moroni lost his trumpet at SL Temple! Although home school was the last thing on our mind that day, it was a good distraction and a good learning experience for us all!

3.20-21.20 Catherine's Birthday! I put all that on a separate post! With all that is going on I really wanted it to feel like a Really Special birthday to her, especially since we had to cancel her friend party!

3.22.20  We were all in need to get outside and have our spirits lifted. So we decided to go on a little family hike. We basically hiked straight up a hill for 1 mile with a 600ft elevation gain! Go kids! They loved getting out and exploring! Felt so good to be outside!

3.26.20  From the First Presidency “After careful and prayerful consideration, and with a desire to be responsible global citizens, we have decided to suspend all temple activity churchwide. This is a temporary adjustment, and we look forward to the day when the temples will reopen.”
We have been listening to the song Peace In Christ over and over a lot lately!
He gives us hope when hope is gone;
He gives us strength when we can’t go on;
He gives us shelter in the storms of life;
When there is no Peace on earth there is Peace in Christ!

The last week of the month we tried to get outside as much as possible. Worked with Catherine on riding her bike without training wheels. Just trying to have fun with family! Caden has a super loose tooth!

Quarantined but still keeping up friendships through the fence! (6ft Distance!)

I am starting feel more in control of my thoughts and feeling with everything going on. Got a routine with school and just starting to feel better with life. Maybe because the weather is getting better, sun is shining more and I finally feel good enough to start running again!

Dad told them to flex their muscles! haha

He is sad because we caught him being sneaky with eating candy when he shouldn't have gotten into them! Both him and Catherine I think are just getting bored and starting to be more sneaky and seeing what they can get away with!

3.28.20  Celebrated McKay's Birthday!! I put it all on a separate post!

3.29.20  Caden lost another tooth! This is his third one to come out! Yay It finally came out! It was looking pretty goofy haha. It fell out when he bit into a strawberry! haha it was So ready!
