McKay Davis Huntington

Born on March 30, 2018 at 1:15 am. He weighed 6 lb. 7 oz.  Height of 19.5 inches.
On Thursday evening we had Stephanie and her family, Matt, and Kaitlin over for dinner. I had been telling them that I felt like I was going to have the baby that night because I had the membranes stripped that morning and ever since then had been having very mild contractions. But it was different this time because a lot of the contractions were in my lower back. I could not wait to have this baby out of me, I was so done being pregnant. I really started having more consistent contractions around 6. We were wise this time and new that we were going to have this baby that night, just a matter of when to go to the hospital. We were completely ready this time, bags packed and everything. When we went to bed at 10:30 I was telling Chris that there was no way we were going to be able to sleep so we might as well go to the hospital to play it safe. So by the time we got everything ready, called my midwife to let her know we were going to the hospital, and called my neighbor to come over to stay with the kids it was 11:30pm. The contractions were very mild at 10 minutes apart when we left. When we got to the hospital they checked me and said that I was dilated to 4 cm. An hour after that things started progressing really fast. At that point I was having major contractions that started getting closer and closer in time. So they finally moved us to the delivery room. This whole time I have been asking where is my midwife Julie and they kept reassuring me that she was on her way. Once in the delivery room I couldn't sit, it felt better to be standing when I had a contraction. I hated it when they had to put an IV in me when I was having major contractions at the same time. I remember asking them if it was necessary for me to have an IV. Man just when I felt like I might cry out of pain I felt like I had to start pushing. I remember feeling relieved knowing that I am almost done! They told me to get on the bed and as soon as I got on the bed my water broke. Again I asked where Julie was and they said she should be here any minute. I was feeling frustrated that she wasn't there! That was the whole reason I wanted to have a midwife, where was she!?! I only had to push twice! Once with the head, and then the rest of the body. That is when Julie got there, right as I was pushing out the rest of the body. Better late than never I guess. They said that the hospital got mixed up telling her with her other patient of hers that was also having a baby next door but not as far along as me. He was born at 1:15 am. The worst part out of all of this was after I had McKay. Apparently there was a little piece of placenta left inside of me. So Julie and another nurse were constantly pushing on my stomach that hurt So bad! Once they finally thought that they got it all they started stitching me up which is always not fun. It stings really bad! Julie came back in and decided that they didn't get all of the placenta yet so they pushed More! They also gave me some medicine that would help with me to contract more to hopefully help get it out but it also made me very dizzy. Julie later decided that she would need to stick her hand back up in me to try and wipe me out clean. That was the Worst! I was so done with them pricking and pushing me. I just wanted them to LEVE ME ALONE! After that they were finally done torturing me except for an occasional push to my tummy. This whole time Chris was amazingly calm and did great! He even cut the cord! Obviously Chris stayed that night but the next night I let him go home to get a solids nights rest. I could not wait to leave the hospital! Sadly the other kids could not come see him because they were still getting over their colds.
Kind of fun that he will share his birthday with the Wright twins, Gracie Clayton, and his future wife Isla Whittier ;)

I am just so ready to have this baby!

Go Chris! Doing awesome!

YAY time to go home!

How we decided to go with the name McKay Davis Huntington:
We really struggled coming up with a name for him. We went back and forth between Jackson or McKay. Both didn't have any family connections, they were just the only names that we liked. Chris came up with McKay after watching BYU basketball one of the players was named McKay and he really liked it. Davis is a family name. It is Grandma Elaine's Mother's maiden name.
