Height of 22 inches

He is finally Here!!! Sunday night on the 23rd of June we had set up to go into the hospital at 8 pm to start the induction process, still only dilated 2 cm. We were put in a side room right across from the bathroom because all the other rooms were filled. Both Chris and I did not sleep at all. My bed was super uncomfortable and Chris had three chairs to sleep on. They didn't give me any Pitocin that night they wanted to wait till the morning sometime. But they did put this mini tampon looking thing in me in order to soften up my cervix. I started having contractions in the middle of the night around 3 am. They must have been big and close together or something because a nurse came running in all ready saying "your going to have this baby!!" I guess that was just a false alarm because this went on like this clear up to the point of the hour prior to delivery. I stayed dilated at 2 -2 1/2 clear up to the hour prior to delivery as well. I think that it was around 11 am on Monday that I decided to get the epidural. The process of getting the epidural was horrible! With strong contraction, them forcing me to bend over as far as I could, and an assistant just learning how to give epidurals put me into tears. I swear he poked me like 10 times!! That was Awful!!! Finally the professional took over and got it in the first try! Chris wasn't allowed in there either, which was maybe for the best because he would have passed out! I am so glad that I did get it though because contractions were miserable at 2 cm and I couldn't imagine what it would be like at 10 cm. This whole time Chris felt super sick and worried. When that happens it makes him need to go to the bathroom....He had gone 10 times that morning. Finally he had to go outside and go for a walk to try and feel better. "I just love Amber so much and it kills me to see her in pain and me not doing much to help." We had a scare where my contractions were super high and close together that they couldn't give me much Pitocin because it would then put too much stress on the baby. A bunch of nurses rushed in and put me on oxygen. They put a catheter in to empty bladder to help baby drop more. They also decided to pop the water to help things progress. "Amber had so many tubes everywhere its like she is the one in the ICU. I am super proud of her this is a lot to go through to have a baby. Certainly the Lord blesses those with a righteous desire to start a family. This all was before 11:30 am. At one point the nurse was telling me that the next time the doctor checks to see how dilated I am, if I am still at 2 and half then they will probably have to do a c-section. Man, Chris and I were so nervous...I did not want a c-section!! We were praying so hard, and our prayers were answered with a miracle. I went from being 2 cm to 10 cm with in an hour. SO so glad that I had the epidural. Anyway, once it was time to push, I was ready! It took 30 minutes to push him out!! I was exhausted!! Oh I was so happy to see him, made me cry with happy tears. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Caden Reed Huntington 8 lb. 15 oz. 22 inch long Monday the 24th of June at 5:46 pm!!! Mom and baby are doing great. We were so excited to leave the hospital. We were so tired of nurses coming in and out. The majority of the time I was not even coherent with what they were saying. Good thing Chris was functioning better than I was. We didn't get like any sleep while being there at the hospital. But the benefit of the hospital was being able to have the lactation specialist help...we are struggling with getting a good latch!
Sunday Night at 8pm. My very uncomfortable bed and Chris's non existence bed! It was so loud being next to the bathroom and nurse station! Still naively excited to get things rolling!
In the morning at some point we finally got moved into a more suitable delivery room! Things didn't work out for me to have the Dr. I had been seeing but at this point I didn't even care. The Dr and nurses were super nice. Even though Chris was sick with worry he was a champ with taking care of paper work and trying to be of comfort to me!
I just hated being so strapped down with all the equipment and cords. I wish I could have walked around to help with the pain! I just felt so tired and miserable!
Finally he is Here!!!
My First time Holding my boy! Those are happy and exhaustion tears!
Chris's First time holding Caden!
Poor Chris was super exhausted too! We both can't wait to go home! At least he has somewhat of a bed now! Sheesh!
Yay We finally get to go home!!!
Why we choose the Name Caden Reed:
The name Caden has no family ties we just liked how masculine it sounded and it just fit! Reed is Chris's grandpa's name on his dad side. Grandma Elaine's husband, Fred Reed Huntington. It is also Chris's middle name as well and Chris really wanted to name our son after his grandpa.
Thanks for sharing! Your cute little family is perfect. I hope everything goes great. You definitely deserve it!
ReplyDeleteDon't feel guilty or bad - nursing doesn't work for everyone and it sounds like you tried EVERYTHING. Just keep the stress low and hopefully your next baby things will work out (but if not, no stress). Just love up on your baby. He is so beautiful and we are so so happy for your guys and can't wait to meet him!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! Daniel and I are so happy that he's a healthy boy, and that you are doing well.
ReplyDeleteYou all look so good together!!!! Caden is sure a cutie! I always loved bottle feeding cause then I could look into their faces. Also it is nice bonding time for daddy and baby too. We gave Callen a bottle when he was 6 days old cause Brady wanted to feed him ( it was the only time callen was awake)!
ReplyDeleteAmber, I'm so happy for you. You and Chris are already amazing parents. You can thank me later for all of the training with Lincoln;-) Being a mom is the best, and Caden has the best of the best. We miss you!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you and Chris! Glad you and Caden are healthy. Hopefully Clara and Caden will meet each other sometime soon!
