December 2010

Today is Sunday and it has been a good day. Chris and I bought a tree yesterday and went lots of shopping with at gift card money. It is so nice to have so much things now, and I am grateful for all those that gave it to us. On Friday I also went clothes shopping with my track money, so on Saturday I wore my new outfit for our date. Decorating the tree was a lot of fun, it is our first Christmas tree together. We then went to the Dollar Theatre and watched an intense movie. We then came home, and had popcorn! Today (sunday) we are going to make a fake fire place out of our tv box to hang our stockings from. Then we plan on making cookies for neighbors and then going to the Salt Lake Temple to see the lights!

We had a really good Christmas, and finals went well. My GPA actually went up this semester, even with
having to plan a wedding and everything. I was pretty happy about that. My goal is to get everything in the B or As this next semester. It will be probably my hardest semester but I think that I can do it. For our first Christmas, we had a pretty legit home - made fire place and we made stockings to go on it, we had a real Christmas tree, and we were able to buy each other gifts. We bought ourselves the Prison Break series and we have been so hooked on it ... watching all the time. Financially we are doing great from all the money people keep giving us and gift cards! Right now for our Christmas break, we are at Chris's family's house. We had our own Christmas and then that day we went to my home for a couple of days then went to Colorado. It has been fun here and I feel like I am apart of the family! While we were down in Meadow at my parents house I wanted one last fathers blessing. This is from my dad's Journal: "Amber,  I felt to write you about your question to mom about when to start having children.  The way the Lord has set it up in a covenant people, which we are, is as follows: The wife counsels with her righteous priesthood husband her feelings, and then follows his counsel.  The husband is and will be held accountable for his family unit, including when to have children.  His first consideration in such decisions is to consider the physical stress well being health of his wife, after considering what she is and will be involved in during the pregnancy, and the care of children.   Next is his readiness to provide money and time for his family.  He is to use wisdom, coming from prayer and meditation and his wife’s counsel.  A righteous priesthood husband will receive the right direction on such important family matters. That having been said, I feel mom gave you good advice to give it some time.  I agree with that, because of the blessings that have been pronounced on you.  Apparently you will spend more time in your athletics, as I felt you will achieve a certain amount of fame in it, which will serve you and your future activities in the Lord’s kingdom, as well as for your family.  This is a time for education and preparation.  We are encouraged by the Lord to not hold off having children, but also encouraged to prepare for such by getting adjusted to married life, and establishing the ability to provide for a family, and to give the time for a family.  Mom and I started right in, but we were ready in those areas.  You will have plenty of time, when the time comes.  It doesn’t hurt to give it a little time.  I believe you are both some of the best the Lord has in the kingdom, and your children are very valiant and are destined to come at appointed times.  I can’t help but think you and Chris will be guided in it.  So, discuss with Chris, pray about it, express your counsel, and then submit yourself to his counsel and decision, and you will have the family that is planned for you.  Everything will fall into place as it should. I hope this helps you.  I’m very proud of you, and very impressed with you.  It touches my heart that you desire to have children.  I feel you and Chris will raise a wonderful family.  As a father, I am so very grateful you found such a worthy husband.  I have a lot of confidence in Chris.  I am very sure you will get to enjoy the blessings of peace and joy and success in the Lord’s kingdom.   Love ya, Dad "
